Born on November 2, 1970, Chad Mudd is a lifelong resident of Cameron Parish. Chad graduated from South Cameron High School in 1989. Thereafter, Chad attended McNeese State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in English Education. He was a member of the Sigma Tau Delta (English Honor Society) and the McNeese Rodeo Team for four years. After completing his curriculum at McNeese, Chad attended the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1997. Thereafter, Chad returned to Cameron Parish and served as a law clerk for the Honorable H. Ward Fontenot in the 38th Judicial District Court for one-year. After completing his clerkship in the 38th Judicial District Court, Chad Mudd and David Bruchhaus formed the law firm of Mudd & Bruchhaus, L.L.C.
Prior to Hurricane Rita, which made landfall in Cameron Parish in 2005, the law firm of Mudd & Bruchhaus' primary office was located in Cameron near the courthouse square. Since that time, the firm has expanded its offices establishing a satellite office in Jefferson Davis Parish and has opened a new primary office in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Chad's practice has centered around representing personal injury victims resulting from car accidents, offshore accidents, crewmembers of vessels, dockside workers, and general liability claims. Chad has tried cases in both state and federal court. Also, Chad represents landowners that have environmental damage to their property resulting from oil, gas, and plant operations.
Chad married Michelle Thompson Mudd in 1997, and they have twin daughters, Ava and Alivia. Michelle is a graduate of LSU with a degree in Speech Communications. Chad and his family have resided in Cameron Parish except for their period of displacement due to Hurricanes Ike and Rita. Chad and Michelle are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, Louisiana. Chad is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, JP Boudoin Council 3014 Knights of Columbus, Coastal Conservation Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the National, State, and Parish Cattleman's Beef Association. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and cattleman. Chad is also an active supporter of youth and civic organizations in his community and the surrounding areas.
